Connection Requirements

All connections to the SuperNet are accomplished by optical fibre or wireless equipment. The hand-off of the service from SuperNet to your network is at the PoP. Anything beyond the PoP is your responsibility.

Standard Connection to the SuperNet

Fibre

Service Providers can connect to Supernet via a fibre connection between the Service Provider's business location(s), where equipment supporting the SP operation is housed (SP Site) and the SuperNet PoP or MMF. A lit fibre connection with Service Provider optical terminating equipment co-located at the PoP or MMF is required.

Wireless

Axia also provides tower space, based on availability, at approximately 60 towers in the province to enable customers to provide fixed or mobile wireless local access services. Placement of a mast on some SuperNet POPs or co-location on an existing mast is also permitted.

Non-Standard Connection to the SuperNet

Service Providers planning to offer Internet connection services via SuperNet are expected, for the most part, to deploy a local fibre distribution network or a wireless network to serve customers. There may be occasions where an Service Provider may elect to establish an ADSL or other copper-based service as its local distribution network using copper loops. Please contact Axia for more detail on this option.
